tomTom Chadbourne is one of the most mysterious figures in the contemporary adventure racing circles. Most winning teams consist of people who have been around last 5 years at least with minor exceptions. Vast experience is considered a must have for successful expedition racing when we’re talking about public perception.

When Tom appeared on the podium  of X-Marathon  2017, all what we knew was his WA origin and super fitness. Soon after (in adventure racing terms) he is winning XPD and going to the World Championships this year

silver geckosAnd in a few blinks of the eye, four months has rolled on by and we are less than 2 weeks out.

And the training has been hard and taken its toll. One of our most dedicated and inspiring team members had a big fall on her MTB and is out with a compression fracture. And I’m now limping around with muscle tears in one ankle after a trail run rollover on the final day of 2017.

finisher medalOne of the most exciting moments of pre-race time is course scheme revealing. Now you can plan your food and your gear and pre-pack everyththing. It will be an early shuttle bus and we will try to start at 8 AM making most of daylight. Leading time for the Full course is expected to be 28 hours and all other teams can remain on a course for up to 48 hours. Leading time for Short course   is expected to be around 20 hours and cut off is 48 hours as well. The exact course will be up Thursday night when all teams will recive maps..
